I'm Peter Wilkinson, the pastor at First Presbyterian
Church. I grew up in Lafayette, Indiana, and graduated from Purdue University, where I majored in Management. After graduating
from college, I moved to San Francisco, where I became involved at a Presbyterian Mission Station in San Francisco's Chinatown.
I worked briefly for a Certified Public Accountant and then made the decision to attend San Francisco Theological Seminary.
I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1983, and returned to the Midwest to begin my career as a Presbyterian Pastor.
I have served Churches in Indiana and Illinois prior to accepting the call in Rutherford. I love to read, eat desserts (especially
when chocolate is involved), play a little golf (or shoot a few hoops), and root for the Chicago Cubs or the Bears (I'll always
be a Midwest person!).
My life was forever
changed when I married my wife, Jan Burgess. We met while I was serving a church in Indianapolis. We are blessed to be the
parents of a high school student, Madeleine, and Evan, an eighth-grader.
It is my hope and dream as the pastor of this church to aid all people in their journeys of life
and faith. I seek to support people individually with the challenges that they face in their life. As a church, we will continually
"help/nurture/empower" people to grow as children of God. All people are welcome at First Presbyterian Church!
Thanks for checking out our website. I'd love to have the
chance to meet you face to face in the near future. If you would like to speak with me directly about our church, you can
reach me at petew@fpcrutherford.org or 201-438-3569.
Peace,
Pete
